In 1972, Sandstrom established their association with a major domestic automobile company by formulating and producing gasket coatings. In later years, Sandstrom again partnered with the same company to develop a friction-reducing material for use on gasoline engine pistons. The association has been maintained, and Sandstrom continues to provide updated formulations of the original products.
In 1984, a second domestic supplier chose Sandstrom to formulate and provide a product to inhibit corrosion on a major assembly part.
Today Sandstrom works with two OEMs and more than ten aftermarket gasket companies.
B705 Adhesive - B stage adhesive applied and then dried on gasket paper for valve plate and similar applications. B705 coated paper will laminate to clean steel with a thin film of rust-preventative oil.
B907 Adhesive - Similar to B705, with higher solids for greater film build. Excellent adhesive for fabrics and paper-to-paper.
B731 Nitrile Phenolic - Recommended for encapsulating transmission gasket papers.
B543 Modified Nitrile - Use where a bond is desired after gasket placement. Tacky when dry for superior sealing and grip in uneven surfaces. Apply directly to gasket paper or apply over a thin film of E350 for optimum adhesion on graphite paper or steel surfaces. Available in clear, black, and custom colors.
B551 Moly-PTFE Gasket Coating - Use on head gaskets. *Provides exceptional sealing properties.
B590/B190 Modified Nitrile - For transmission gaskets where a slightly tacky and chemical resistant seal is desired. Standard color is blue.
B744 Black Nitrile - Use to seal the edges of rough-cut paper gaskets. Apply one coat of B748 or L556 over B744 to obtain optimum performance.
B748 Black Neoprene Phenolic - A non-blocking gasket coating.
E350 Epoxy Primer- Available in white and some colors. Provides superior adhesion on substrates that are hard to adhere to like graphite paper and oily stainless steel. Topcoat with clear or B543 Modified Nitrile.
L277 Gasket Coating- Spray apply over metal. Recommended for extreme performance exhaust gaskets and high temperature-resistant gaskets for fuel-efficient engines.
L556 Clear Gasket Coating - Recommended for encapsulating a wide range of automotive gaskets stamped out of various papers. May be applied over B744 or other basecoats to optimize performance.
S272 Waterborne Release Agent - ZERO VOC. Applied very thinly over any cured gasket coating during the manufacturing process for improved release and anti-block properties during shipment and automated installation.
Clear Wire Lacquer- Quick-drying lacquer designed for use over fiberglass, cotton, or other braided wire.
