Weapons Coatings

assault rifleIn 1961, R.V. Sandstrom worked with the Rock Island Arsenal to develop solid film lubricants. The military was heavily focused on these coatings for the coatings' ability to inhibit corrosion and reduce friction.

The United States Army realized that a collaborative partnership with a chemist was the best way to develop products needed for weapons support. For his tireless efforts in support of the US Army's design needs, R.V. Sandstrom was awarded the Department of the Army's Outstanding Civilian Service Medal.

Sandstrom Coating Technologies has continued their development of Solid/Dry Film Lubricants and has applied their technology not only to military applications but also to the commercial weapons industry.
